I’m going to use a smoothieboard to control my Wilson II build. I’d like to use Zprobe for the auto bed leveling function. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this, and if not, is there any interest. I will post updates as I go along. Looking forward to hearing for you guys.

Looks like the firmware support it. I don’t see why you couldn’t code an automatic movement (for the pinion and rack system) or add some Gcode before and after the G28/G29 (or whatever they use to level the bed) to move the X carriage.
Anyway, I’d be interested to follow your step tho.
Since I haven’t really used the rack/pinion system, and only seen it function in passing, could you describe to me the motion I would need to program?
From what I can tell (I don’t have a Wilson 2) you just need to move the X carriage to 0 to activate the pinion and to “Max X” to deactivate (or is it reversed?).

It’s a very simple thing to implement in C code or in your initial GCode in your slicer.

My RAMPS power connector melted the other day, so I have an Azteeg x5 Mini v1.3 arriving tomorrow and I will be playing with this too… I currently have the servo setup, but one of the things I want to do is to print the Rack & Pinion setup so I can convert to that style.
I’ll be watching to see if you get to a solution before I do.
