E3D V6 Hot End Fan Wiring

#1

When installing the E3D hot end E3D says to connect the cooling fan for the heat break directly to 12 volts so it always runs.
Were is a good place to pick up 12 volts when the printer is powered up?

Thanks,

John

There is a 12v pin on the ramps/pica you can pick up if you need to, but I have mine hard wired (spliced) before the 12v in of the ramps.

Thanks Squid. I haven’t dug to deeply into it yet. i may go with your approach. I guess the goal is to have the fan running whenever you are preheating, printing and cooling down. Is that your understanding also?

Yeah, I believe that you could control it based on hot end temp, but I prefer to just have it always on…
