US source for extruder springs

#1

Hey everybody,

I bought a kit from Marty a few weeks ago and I’m assembling the extruder right now. Unfortunately, I lost one of the 2 springs for the extruder.

I was hoping that someone could recommend a source for the 1-inch springs used in an extruder. I found a few on eBay and AliExpress, but they’ll take weeks to arrive.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I got mine from Ace Hardware - they have a good selection of various size springs near all of the fasteners. I’m not sure if they are the exact same size, but they are working just fine for me.

I checked at Home Depot and they didn’t have much of a selection at all. I found something that would work for now, but I ordered a pair of new springs from Marty (he just added them to the online store).

Thanks!

Im also looking for high tension springs for the extruder idler.
The BOM says ~ 1" long unsprung ~ 25mm with ID ( inner diameter? ) of 3mm

i keep finding the wrong combinations of length and width …
are these flexible measurements for the springs ?

can i find them at ace or homedepot? or is it specialty item ?
thanks

You can use springs a little longer or shorter as long as they are stiff enough. Larger ID (yes inner diameter) may be ok if you put a washer over the spring so that it won’t slip off the top of the M3x60mm screw that holds it against the extruder.
